Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Accident caused intentionally by other driver...Need advice!

Hello, thanks in advance for any help I may recieve. I was involved in an accident which, in short, I gave the middle finger to another driver because they tailgated me and then they proceeded to speed up beside me and cut directly in front of me and come to a complete stop. I hit the left rear of their vehicle because they came in from the right at an angle. We both had insurance, no injuries. I recieved two tickets one for ''failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident'' and ''unsafe equipment-no brakes'' (because I made a simple comment about my car being an older car to the officer). I have pictures of my car and skid marks in the road made by the other vehicle. My questions: Do I plead not guilty to my tickets? This was something done intentionally and I do not want this person to get away with no problems. Is it worth taking it to trial? I am a young man working part time and going to school, I cannot really afford an attorney, should I request a public defender? Should I contact a public defender prior to the case? I need help because it just isn't fair for this person to be able to do something like this and get away with it. Please help me!

Where do you have to go to court? You have got a lot to argue about!
