Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

licence was revoked in 1993, no traffic charges or violations sense then. then was stopped walking back to my car outside a mini mart, and arrested for driving on revoked. can they charge me with a felony? after reviewing my files, i found that my license could have been reinstated, so was no longer revoked. how do i fight this? my pub deffender says no, and i dont believe him, the "states attorney' is not available to talk to, there is a laywer representing that positon, who is also representing the clients in the courtroom. im confused.

"Could have been reinstated" is different than "was reinstated," so from your post it sounds like you did not have a license when you were arrested. The states attorney should not talk to you if you are represented by another attorney. No attorney on a forum such as this can give you better advice than an attorney who has reviewed the relevant charges and had discussions with you. If you disagree with the advice of your attorney, I suppose your alternative is to hire a different attorney who can thoroughly review this matter.
