Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

i recently got an ordinance ticket for possession of alcohol. the thing is, the bottle was empty, and i never drank it. a friend of mine gave it to me who is 23 and he drank it a few weeks prior from giving it to me. i'm 20, so underage, and i only wanted the bottle because i liked the way it looked. how do i fight this ticket in court?

You could hire an attorney to represent you. If you want a trial the attorney could cross-examine the witness against you, attact the fact that there was no alcohol in the bottle, and even put you on the witness stand to testify. In many cases of this nature, the Judge is more likely to believe a policema than a defendant, and so you would risk losing the trial and taking the conviction.. This is a conviction that you do not want to have on your record for several very important reasons. In many similar cases that I have handled, it has been in the client's best interest to have an attorney negotiate a plea bargain that avoids any conviction and thus avoid the risk of losing together with all of the negative consequences that would follow a conviction. If you do not already have an attorney, I might be able to offer my services to you for a reasonable fee. Please feel free to contact me.
