Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

I moved in with my mother in 2009 to take care of her and I'm unable to do so anymore. She has to move into a nursing home. She is on Medicaid and Medicare. Her income comes from SSD+death benifits+She qualifies for food stamps. She ownes the house with an $8000 mortgage. She is also co-owner on my 2011 KIA SOUL. Will I lose the house and/or my car and what are my options?

Medicaid will have a lien on the house for nursing home benefits--the amount won't be known until the earlier when your mom moves out of the nursing home or until she dies. The car title isn't so clear--who made the payments, why is mom's name on the title, these are factors that can make a difference. Talk to the financial office at the nursing home and make sure you understand your obligations, rights and duties.
