Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Trusts

My father told me that my grandfather had set up a skip generation trust for my brothers and myself. My grandfather has passed away and I no longer speak to my father. How can I find out if the trust is real??

Re: Trusts

The lawyer who drafted the trust would have a copy (or the original) in his or her file. If you don't know who the trustee is, you will need to find out.

Trusts are not public documents like a will. You will need to talk to the trustee and ask him for a copy so you can ascertain your rights. If you believe your father is the trustee, you will need to contact him to request a copy.

Good luck to you.
