Hi, I am citizen of India encountering a strange situation. I have been in love with a girl for an year. While I didn't have any physical relation with the girl, I did write some letters to her and had taken some photos with her. After some time, I realized this girl is not of good nature and famliy background, I decided to call it quits. But she is threatening she will commit suicide quoting my name. Presently, I am totally out of contact with her and am willing to marry a girl decided by my parents. As I can understnad, I have the freedom of right to choose my life partner. Now, what are the legal implications I might of to face with this girl.

Re: Freedom to choose a partner

hello ! As per the information you provided , what will be good for you is go to police station and report this matter to them. Because she's threatening you with committing suicide, where as committing suicide is crime and so is threatening someone. Obviously she cant force you to marry her or not to marry with someone else. So for your own legal protection I would suggest you to inform the police. Then you will be on safe side in all situations if she take any legal or illegal step.

good luck.
