p.c.r. is admitted.is it binding on police to file f.i.r.?

a p.c.r.under sec 200 is admitted at munsiff court and given 60 days time to make necessary inquiry to the police. whether the police authority is binding to file f.i.r.? if so what is time limit for filing the f.i.r.? if not can police file B report on merits without filing the f.i.r.?

filing of f.i.r. is mandatory or not?

please define it with relevent sections or citations please.

The police may register FIR u/s 154 Cr. P. C. upon receipt of complaint of a cognizable offence.
