Legal Question in Employment Law in India

Salary for notice period |||

I worked for an IT company for four and half years, left the company without any notice and later sent the resignation through an email. Now I need the experience letter and relieving letter from them. I communicated with them and they are ready to give me the relieving letter but not experience letter, if I pay them the equivalent gross salary amount for the one month notice period. I am ready to pay the basic salary amount but they are asking the gross salary as per company rules and regulations. I went through my appointment letter and it's nowhere mentioned, that I should pay anything, it's not at all mentioned that I have to give one month notice to them before leaving. Can you please tell me if I can file the suit on the basis of appointment letter that they are wrongly taking money from me ?
