property re-registration towards heirs

My father owns a property in a village in TamilNadu. He died in 2003. I have the legal heir certificate entitled to my mother, my brother and myself. But we have not registered the land in our name till now. How long the land can go without registration? Kindly advise

In case of immoveable properties like land etc.it is necessary that transfer is registered within 3 years and mutation in revenue records are done and fresh certificates in form 7/12/6/8 are obtained from respective revenue authorities
