i want a stay order on our ancestral land so that my father can't sell his share of land....

Father has got a right to dispose of his share and you can't get stay on his share. You can ask for your share in ancestral land.

file a suit .. for partition instead of stay order

you need to file a suit for partition and also move an application for stay.
