starting a new business
What do I need to have a small business fromm home. I will file a schedule c and will not charge sales. Do I need a tax ID, how do I go about getting one?

Your questions can not be answered without more detail about the type of business, posible liabilities, risks, profit and location, as that information may be pertinent in determining whether you should incorporate, stay as you are or perhaps become an LLC. The second question can not be answered until you decide what kind of entity will be used.
