Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Bill collector harrassing my sister.

My sister's husband died not long ago. He left no estate. Now,my sister is being harrassed by a collection agency which says that her husband had a note loan with them, and if she doesn't pay it, they will put a lien on her home. She did not sign the loan. Does she have to pay them?

Re: Bill collector harrassing my sister.

If she did not sign the loan, then she has no personal liability. However, you do not explain how she has a home that she owns. It does sound like a possible Fair Debt Collection Protection Act case and she should consult an attorney pronto.
