Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Credit collection agency

I have a credit card that has been in collections for 8 years. Under the Indiana statue, collection agencies have 5 years to collect the unpaid monies. Recently, they have called multiple times to try to collect. I never agreed to an agreement but a couple days ago they sent me a letter stating I have until Jan 31 to pay $600 according to our agreement. Can they do anything to me if I don't pay it? Will they put it back on my credit report or take me to court? Currently it is not on my credit report.

Re: Credit collection agency

They can take you to court. If so, you have to notify the court of the statute of limitations problem. It is called an affirmative defense.
