debt collection

my wife had an apartment garnish her wages for an exection.this was done two years ago. Now they are suing for interest on the garnish amount. to make matterss worst we liuve in a different state. can they do that and what should we do?

The company is entitled up to 8% from the date of judgment to the final payment date. You can call them to do a work out agreement or you can file bankruptcy or file a response in duspute of the amount with the original court if you think it's different. You would have to appear in court for the hearing though. Even though you are out of state, you can be garnished no matter where you are so long as she works for a company that reports her income and does payroll.

If the wife is not employed by a business doing business in Indiana, a garnishment should be hard to carry out.
