Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

question regarding prosecution over a debt

I live in TX and purchased merchandise from a company in Indiana. I have not payed the total amount owed to the company and they have given me 7 days to pay in full or they are going to prosecute me. Say for example I can't pay in full and they prosecute, what will happen? Buy the way the money I owe is roughly $300. Would I be expected to appear in court in indiana, spend any time in jail, just be sued or what? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Re: question regarding prosecution over a debt

Bogus. Nobody's going to prosecute you for not paying a debt; it's not a crime. They may have said they were going to prosecute a civil action, but that's probably another lie. But it could be done, then they will have a judgment against a Texas resident. Texas has a reputation among creditors as the land of the dead beat and home of the bail jumper. However, unless you have some valid defense to paying the debt, you would be in better balance with the universe if you completed your obligation, especially for an Indiana company. Pay the money. It would be good for you.
