Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana

i have a daughter in jail for selling, pills. she has a lot of medical problems including 5 ft of colon removed, mentally unstable, panic attacks, ocd, etc. she is not able to eat or drink without vomiting and they wont take her to the hospital to be checked. i am sure she is very dehydrated and now a sheriff is trying to force feed her. she was seen by the doctor at the jail and all they do is make fun of her and tell her its all in her head. she has a public defender but he is not much help either. what if anything can be done for her. i would like to see her in a hospital and or rehab. thank you

I'm sorry to hear that your daughter is not receiving the medical attention you believe she needs while in custody. There is usually significant independence between how the jail is operated and the influence a local court can have on that process. Still there are fundamental basic needs that if the jail is ignoring can be enforced through a court of law. You may wish to consult and retain a private attorney who can advise you of what you should do next and what if anything can be done to help your daughter.
