Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana

theft-felony classd

I have been charged with a felony class d-theft. I have a clean record , the detective told me i would more than likely not do any jailtime. I really can't afford a lawyer, but I heard if you have a job you will not be appointed a public defender. Can anyone tell me what to expect in court? Do I really need a lawyer? Will they give me a public defender? The crime happened in munster incase that makes a difference. Lakecounty In

Re: theft-felony classd

All I can tell you is, yes you need a lawyer. Listening to the detective about the outcome is like a chicken listening to Col. Sanders when he says, "Don't worry, this won't hurt a bit."

Good luck
