Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana

Neighbor dispute

I am in a subdivision in Allen County, IN. The house next to me has six cars in the household and parks at least two of them on the street constantly. Oftentimes, they park in front of my house on the street rather than in front of their own. In addition, they have rather large parties at least three nights per week where there are two, three, or four cars in front of my house. Oftentimes, these cars are parked in areas that makes it tricky backing out of my own driveway. Can I parlay this into a security thing? I have no idea whose cars park in front of my house, I don't know if there are people in them, I don't know if somebody is casing our house or if it's just another partier for the neighbor. It is constant, it is annoying, and I feel we should have some rights...I just don't know which. We have called the cops and nothing really happens. We have asked nicely of our neighbors to refrain, nothing happens. We have asked curtly of our neighbors and nothing happens. Rather than slashing tires (just a joke), we have started taking pictures each occurrence and are going to pursue a legal route if one is available. I just want it to stop. We should have some rights to not have unknown cars in front of our home constantly

Re: Neighbor dispute

You may have a nuisance action but you need to speak with an attorney as this forum is not very good for getting the details necessary.

Re: Neighbor dispute

You have no rights concerning public property in front of your home. You may want to park your own cars there. If and when a vehicle is parked in front that obstructs your ability to use your driveway, call the police.

The other thing you may consider, and I have no idea what is involved, but maybe you can have a fire hydrant installed in front of your home. That would take care of the parking issue.

Good luck.
