Right to restrict / use web links

Hi,

Does a company have the right to say that you can NOT put a web link in something you produce?

60 minutes press department told me that I do NOt have approval to put a web link to a ''standard -open to the public'' story on their web site. My research tells me that someone can not restrict the use? Thank you.

You research is WRONG. You need permission to use a HOTLINK to any website. Read the TOU on their site.
