Legal Question in Employment Law in Indiana

I worked at an Indiana Dental Clinic, as a Dental Assistant from 01/07/2004 until 02/03/2009 at which time I was placed on layoff (indefinite) due to lack of business. No 24hr notice! They said they might call me back this summer when business improved. Now I find that they hired someone with NO experience at a cheaper wage to do the same job instead of calling me back from layoff. Is this legal??

I was originally as a Dental Assistant because I am Hispanic and could translate communications and documents for the Hispanic patients. I also had 13 years prior experience.
