Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

Property line rules

Our farmground has been rented yearly by the same family, but this year they lowered their rental price so we declined their offer. They also farm ground adjacent to our property and have begun planting it, however they have infringed on our property. My question is can they legally require me to have my ground surveyed to prove where my property line is, or is that the responsibility of the property owners they have rented from?

Re: Property line rules

You can contact your local township trustee. They may be able to assist you concerning the situation without the need for a survey. Otherwise, you probably have to file a suit for ejectment and to quiet title against the landowner and the tenant. You should contact an attorney in person if the trustee cannot resolve the situation. Good luck.
