Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa

Situation: An employee wants to transfer to another job within the same company. Human Resources will not offer the job until this employee tells current supervisor that employee is a finalist in a search. Current supervisor/employee relationship is a nightmare, so employee is very afraid to say anything lest the job offer either does not actually come through (though it's a given), or the terms cannot be negotiated. Question: Doesn't it breach some sort of confidentiality for the supervisor to know of the employee's potential job offer before it is given? If the offer doesn't come through, the supervisor will abuse the employee even more.

No. Iowa is a right to work state. You can be terminated for any reason good reason or no reason at all, unless you are covered by a contract of employment or a collective bargaining agreement. The only right you have is to refuse the transfer if you like.
