Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa

My landlord is trying to charge me for a bed bug treatment. My roommate and I sign a contract stating we would check any and all items that entered our apartment we did so and nothing was found. Then we move in and my roommate is scratching and has bites we inform the office they advised we must bring in a live bed bug in in order to get treatment. this was not stated in our contract. They sent someone in and they said we have no signs of bed bugs. now my office is trying to make me pay for this!!!! I know my roomie and I didnt have bed bugs or our children would have bites all over them already. So who is responsible? SHould i take them to court? THey MADE my roomie feel like she had to sign a contract so she did it. but I did not so whom is responsible???

I'm not sure wjat your legal question is. You can always hire your own exterminator if you think there's a problem.
