Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Iowa

Plastic Surgery Complications

I had a tummy tuck with lower body lift on April 15, 2009. Two days after surgery the suture line on the left flank, apprx 5 inches, came out and the wound came apart. The next week the last drain was removed and now where it came out I have a wound 2'' round on the top extending 3-4 '' below skin to a depth of 1-11/2'' deep. I have to do dressing changes twice daily and am in constant pain. I have to buy all the supplies and have no idea when I will heal. I cannot work, just recently can walk with cane, cannot cook or clean, or take care of husband and kids. The physician never reviewed complications of surgery with me in advance. Can I sue the plastic surgeon?

Re: Plastic Surgery Complications

I can't be sure because it would require a physician to express his/her opinion that the surgeon did something that fell below the standard of care. A bad result doesn't mean there was malpractice.
