Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas

My husband was in a chat room and got a number from a girl. He ended up getting nude pictures of her. Later that day he got a voice mail from someone claiming to be her father where he said she was 15 and if my husband paid $200 he wouldn't press charges. I think it might be a scam, but we're afraid it isn't. What should we do? My husband immediately deleted everything and told me what was going on. Unfortunately the site does allow people under 18 to join, so it's possible she was underage, but he was unaware if she was, and certainly was not looking for underage girls.

Do not pay blackmail. We don't even know if the person who called was the girl's father. I would save the voice mail. If the authorities are going to file charges, they will do so regardless of whether or not you have paid off this blackmailer. It is also unclear whether the girl sent these photos unsolicited or if your husband asked for them. In any event, I suggest you contact a lawyer ASAP and do not speak of this incident with anyone.
