Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

What are the laws in Kansas regarding legal guardianship? I am raising my granddaughter and now comes the time for me to know my choices. My daughter, a single parent herself, is going away for a couple of years. My granddaughters dad is a deadbeat!

This process goes through the courts and gives you legal authority to make decisions on behalf of your granddaughter but leaves your daughter's parental rights in place. It would be necessary for your daughter to give her consent to the guardianship; an attempt must be made to get consent from the father as well.
