If you have a specific parenting time plan that is contained in a court order, you should request your next scheduled parenting time in writing or by email and keep a copy. Then when you arrive for pickup, ask for a police stand-by. If you are still denied your ordered parenting time, you should contact an experienced attorney, or, if you cannot afford one, request a hearing before the court to compel parenting time.

If you have no parenting time schedule in a court order, you need to get one so your time with the child(ren) is specified in detail.
