Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kentucky

My husband and I were arguing. I tried to avoid him by going downstairs he followed me and began to argue some more. I was watching tv and he unplugged the tv and continued to argue. I then started up the stairs and stated that I am going to get some air. He then followed me back up the stairs and decided to go to my closet and started throwing my things out on the floor and down the stairs. I repeatedly asked him to stop and slightly pushed him. He continued with his behavior and forcefully throw my shoes boxes and my face which ended up with my glasses broke. I called my mom in Virginia to tell her what was going on and she called the MPs. I left the house and went to the store. They came and talked to me and my husband. While I was filling out my report and officer came back and said I was the one who needed to be arrested because I shoved him first. I then told him I did that so he would stop messing with my things that he didnt buy. The cops response was so I touch my wifes clothes and things all the time its community property. So he then became the victim. What can I do to not get charges with this?

I'm confused. Did you get charged or not? If so, get an attorney; technically you just admitted here that you committed an assault.
