Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

Adoption of a infant

Four months ago my girlfriend had a baby,I gave it my name even though I am not it's biological father.I supported her through her pregnancy and all the trouble she had.All this while the father(after kicking her out when he found out she was pregnant)had no contact with her about the well being of the baby. Now he wants custody of the baby.He has been convicted of numerous DUI's and recently a Meth trafficking charge. He also has several other children by diffrent women and doesnt pay support on any of them.Is there a way I can legally force an adoption on him or block him from getting partial custody?

Re: Adoption of a infant

The Mother could file for Involuntary Termination of his parental rights, but it is difficult to prove and you would absolutely need the services of a knowledgable family law attorney. Once his right are terminated, if they are, you could petition for adoption of the child with consent of the mother who would remain custodian. You would need to be married, as they would not let an unmarried couple go through an adoption. It's a public policy matter with The Cabinet for Families and Children. Good luck.
