Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

change court date

I have to appear in court on april 20, but that day will be my second day of cna classes and if i miss accordding to the state board of nursing i am out of the program. My only other possible solution would be to change class start dates, but the next available is 2 months away. Also my main witness in the case against my stepmom for domestic abuse is also in the classes with me. MY question is Can I pay a laywer to file a motion to have the court date changed?

Thank You,

Re: change court date

I would highly recommend you contact an attorney immediately to address this conflict. It is entirely possible the court would reschedule a hearing date at a time when all necessary parties can appear.

Thank you.

Re: change court date

I concur with the reply posted by The Law Office of M. Suzanne Van Wert, PLLC, with the caveat that the Court would need to be VERY CLEAR that any appearance on your behalf for a date change is for that purpose only, unless you need legal counsel for the actual proceedings. If this is a matter being handled by the County Attorney or Commonwealth Attorney, you should contact the prosecutor from the appropriate office to request this date change on your behalf. This would be without charge to you.

Good luck.
