Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

a DVO for phone calls (non violent or threatening)

i recieved a 3 year DVO for sending my childs mother a large number (30-45)of text messages and several phone calls. all were non violent/non threatening but not sweet either. i am current on all child support and have visitation rights. my childs mother would not let me see him for over 21 days because i could not pick him up on time . she was informed about the change several days in advance but refused to let me see him until i took her to court to get him. i sent the messages in respone to not seeing him for so many days and was desperate. i was very frantic and upset as any good parent would be who had not seen their child in 21 days.. i have another court date coming up. i do not have an attorney and need information on what i need to do to get the DVO dropped and see my child.

Re: a DVO for phone calls (non violent or threatening)

You are really looking for a comprehensive strategy rather than a specific question about the law. You really should consider investing in an attorney for this matter because there are so many variables that just cannot be addressed online. For example, what is the judge's usual approach to these matters? That makes a huge difference. I can tell you that saying too much and appearing frantic in court will not help your situation. If you insist on representing yourself, write out in advance the three or four most important things you want this judge to know and practice them. Keep it short and simple. Without knowing more about your situation, I cannot advise as to what those 3 or 4 things are or whether there are things you do not want to admit to.
