Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

separate property in another state

My divorce was granted in December 2005 in California. My ex is in prison which he has been since I met him. He filed divorce papers and lied saying property involved was his separate property. It is in fact my sep. property and I filed paperwork proving it clearly. The judge granted the divorce but stated in court that he had not read the documents I filed. I appeared by phone from Kentucky where I have lived since 2004 and where the property is located. The judge says I have to come to Ca to appear on the property issues which will create a hardship for me and that is what my ex planned on. Judge also handed my CONFIDENTIAL PAPERWORK to my ex in court and he started harrassing me with the info he got from the judge. My ex is very violent and manulitive. It would be extremely difficult for me to go to CA. Can I get it transferred to Kentucky?

If you retain an attorney you may not need to make the trip to California, depending on the county that the action is filed in. You should get an attorney anyway, it hasn't worked out real well so far representing yourself. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
