Can I use the word ''cubs'' on a T-shirt if it is in a different font than the Chicago Cubs logo or is it a violation or infringement. I.E. ''The life of a cubs fan''

Re: Copyright Question

This is actually a trademark issue, not copyright. Depending upon how you plan to use their mark, you may need to obtain written permission and a license from the Chicago National League Ball Club.

Without more information, your question cannot be answered. I would suggest that you contact an attorney who can advise you about your specific request, otherwise you run the risk of being liable to the trademark owner for infringement of its federally registered mark: a liability that carries with it stiff financial sanctions.

Be advised, this response is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice, nor does it create an attorney client privilege. Depending upon the matter, you may be subject to a statute of limitations. In order to protect your rights, you should go ahead and contact counsel of your choice to discuss your legal options. Thank you.
