Legal Question in Traffic Law in Kentucky

Can I obtain an international drivers license?

I lost my license from a DUI on 4/30/02. On 5/6/02 due to a stalking incident from an ex-boyfriend, I drove to pick my children up from school (he had threatened to come to my home). I passed my ''ex'' en route and he turned around to follow me. I called 911, the police arrived, let him go, and because I moved my van out of the way for others to pick up their children, I was arrested for driving on a suspended license. Because my license was suspended for only 30 days initially, I am not eligible for a hardship license. I recently applied for an international drivers license due to the fact that I NEED transportation for my children. My court date on the suspended license is set for 6/25/02. I have not had a license for almost two months. Am I legally allowed to use an international drivers license? If not how can I get my license back? I am between a ''rock and a hard place''. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated

Re: Can I obtain an international drivers license?

The international drivers license is not valid in the State of Kentucky and will be of no use to you. Many of these ads for an international license are nothing more than a scam to get your application fee. At your court hearing, you should have your attorney explain the circumstances of your driving on the suspended license but especially emphasize the fleeing from the ex as to avoid danger as it may get the prosecutor to be more inclined to reduce the charge.
