Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

''fence''

I paid a local fence representative 50% of the total bill to cover the material cost of a new fence . The fence company changed its name and we now have not been able to reach anyone with the company. We now believe we have lost the $2600 that we gave the company and will never get a new fence.

Do I have any legal right to contact a lawyer and try to get our money back. Or am I ''screwed''!!!

Re: ''fence''

It sounds like you probably have a cause of action. Was this a verbal agreement or was there a purchase order, invoice, or maybe a written contract for services to be rendered? If you paid the company $2600 and no work was performed, the company was unjustly enriched to your detriment and you would be well within your bounds to seek legal remedies.
