Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

felony gun possesion

My husband bought a hunting rifle for his friend who had a felony charge in the past because he could not get it in his name. He recently got arrested and charged with DUI, hit and run and possesion of a fiream with a felony. I want to know if my husband says that he accidently left the gun in his truck would it help the situation for his friend and if not could my husband get in trouble for this and if so, what kind of trouble are we talking about.

Re: felony gun possesion

This is just my opinion, but your husband has already broken the law by purchasing a gun for someone who cannot legally purchase one and now you want him to lie about how the gun got there? Helping someone buy a gun who cannot legally purchase one makes your husband an accessory to the charge your friend is facing.
