Legal Question in Elder Law in Louisiana

My brother who has poa says he is putting our mother in a nursing home because we have reported him and his (now) wife to eps for emotional and physical abuse and isolation of our 95 year old mother. We have been trying to get her so that we can care for her but he is mad with the family and won't budge. This is a very volatile situation and the police has been called. We were told we can't go to his home because he has poa and that it is a civil matter. He said he is working with his lawyers and won't give any information about this nursing home issue. How can I find out if he is putting her in a nursing home?

Having a POA does not give him the right to control who she has contact with and it certainly does not give him the right to abuse her. A POA is revokable at any time by the principal. Go to her and talk to her. If she wants to revoke the POA, she can. He can't keep you from seeing her if she wants to see you.
