Dear LawGuru Friend,

Your question is simple enough. All you need

to do is to have someone draw up the power of

attorney and then have it properly executed. I

could write on and on here about the Law of Mandate

(law of power of attorney in Louisiana), but should

you care to e-mail me your name and phone number,

I shall call you and discuss this matter with you

further at no charge. You can either hire an attorney

and/or notary to do it for you, or you can produce

the necessary form youself by doing your own

legal research and drafting and then having the

signatures of you as the agent and your nephew

as the principal notarized. Of course, if the power

of attorney has anything to do with land (immovable

property), then the land should be specifically

described in the act of mandate/power of attorney,

as well as what it is that you are authorized to do on

behalf of the principal concerning the land. Should

you care to discuss this matter with me, e-mail me

your name and phone number to [email protected],

and I will call you and discuss this further with you at

no charge.

With kindest regards, I am

Sincerely,

Hardy Parkerson , J.D.
