Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Wife left with only vehicle

My wife left with my child and the child I raised since birth to live with her mother. She has requested that I leave her the vehicle. I work and need a vehicle to get to and from. Her mother has a vehicle. I am not planning to file for divorce yet in hopes that we can work things out. Should I let her keep the truck (in my sole name but purchase while married) or go get it. I don't want to look bad to the judge for taking it if it goes to court but I need a vehicle to get to and from work. Also the child that I raised, his father does not visit him but pays child support occasionally, can I seek visitation of him also.

Re: Wife left with only vehicle

No one can tell you whether you should take the vehicle. Ideally, you should get another one so you both have transportation. If she does not work, then you need it more. Also, I do not know how long you have raised the child, so I do not know how long the relationship with him has had time to develop. Best interest of the child is what controls. But without legal proceedings, you are at her mercy regarding the child.
