Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Louisiana

Is it legal for juvenile record to be accessed and considered after an individua

I was under the assumption that a juvenile's record was just that. Am i mistaken? Is it legal and acceptable for a juvenile's past record to be accessed and considered after an individual has turned 18 and has been released from juvenile probation? My son has been arrested and we are being told that his juvenile record is to play a big part in how he is dealt with? Is there any way that this can be prevented or does the law have that right? I was under the assumption that a juvenile's record was exactly that.......a juvenile record. Thanks in advance for your response.

While a juvenile's record is not accessable to the public, law enforcement and the courts are entitled to access and use them.
