Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Louisiana

I need help with a friend that I let stay in my home. I've looked up the laws, but can't find any relevant information. I live in Louisiana and I know our Landlord/Tenant laws are very slanted towards the landlord. So, in my state of Louisiana, what do I have to do to get them to leave? I haven't said anything to her, yet, but I want to be prepared in advance if she tries to squat here, which is sadly likely. Thanks in advance!

If you tell her to leave and she refuses, you should be able to simply have the police remove her without any sort of Judgment, as she can't show any legal right to be there (such as a lease). Still, police love to tell people, "This is a civil matter," and they very often refuse to remove squatters who have no right to be in a property. It is not the law, but the police do it all the time. Your best bet (if she refuses to leave) may be to go ahead and file for an eviction in the local city court or justice of the peace court having jurisdiction over the property. Bring proof of your ownership of the property (if you have it) when you file and go to trial.

Tell her to leave. If she does not, call the police and tell them she is trespassing. When they see all her stuff there, just tell the truth. I let her stay but now she will not leave. She is staying on my property after being told to leave. As Mr. Lambert says, lazy police might say it is a civil matter.......but it really is a criminal matter......
