Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

I was in a carwreck hit by a company truck and all along I thought they were wanting me to finish treating so I never filed suit now they are stating my year prescription is passed and that I have no rights. Is this true if in fact I believe they were acknowledging their fault and I was treating submitting my medical documents.

I'm afraid it is true. Prescription for most injuries is one year from the date of the accident.
