Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

Wrongful Tax Lien

I am selling property, and have discovered that a tax lien was placed on the property in 1998. The tax lien applies to someone with my same name(different middle name), and different SS#. What steps do I take to get this removed?

Re: Wrongful Tax Lien

You need to ask the person who did the title opinion what will clear it up. Usually it is a simple affidavit of identity either by the lien holder, the person with the same name, or an attorney who was involved in the case that led to the lien. If the tax lien was attached directly to the property in error, then the taxing agency should remove it upon proof that the lien was erroneously placed on your property.
