Legal Question in Business Law in Maine

car payments

If a person has a car loan at a credit express facility, and is late on a payment ( not 30 days) does the lender have the right to harass ( call and say you need to call me by 10am almost daily) or have the right to reposses the vehicle if I make the payment before its 30 days past due?

Re: car payments

While they have the right to collect the amount they owe you, they cannot harass you about it. Harassment is defined in the Maine code (see below). Of course filing a lawsuit against a Michigan corporation is not feasible. Though you can file a complaint with the Maine Attorney General's office and the Better Business Bureau.

"Three or more acts of intimidation, confrontation, physical force or the threat of physical force directed against any person, family or business that are made with the intention of causing fear, intimidation or damage to property and that do in fact cause fear, intimidation or damage to property"
