Legal Question in DUI Law in Maine

Military

Our son was in leave in Maine when he was picked up for speeding and DUI. He has returned to his base in another state and the court date has not been set. Will he have to appear in person or can he plead guilty and pay the fine from his current location?

Re: Military

Your son will likely need to appear since Operating Under the Influence carries the possibility of jail time. If you would like, I can refer you to an attorney who is licensed in Maine and is also a former active duty (now in the Reserves) Judge Advocate; I believe he can best assist with questions concerning the civilian and military ramifications.
