anonymouse tip rights

What are my rights when sending anonymous tips to police departments. Can the person that the tip was about come back and request to look up the IP address of the computer that it was sent from? Do I have rights in this matter?

An anonymous tip is an anonymous tip and I do not believe that the police department has to disclose them to anyone. Having said that, once an e-mail is sent, if the police department chose to release information, it could.
