Re: question

If you fear for your safety and the safety of your child, you should consider obtaining a Protection From Abuse Order against your ex-girlfriend. The clerks at the Court will help you with this process or you can visit the Pine Tree Legal Assistance website at http://www.ptla.org/ptlasite/familyindex.htm.

From your query, it is unclear whether the child support and visitation schedule you and your ex-girlfriend adhere to are the result of a court order. If these arrangements are not pursuant to a court order, then you may want to consider bringing a parental rights and responsibilities action against your ex-girlfriend. Such an action would probably provide you with greater legal protection with respect to your daughter. The Pine Tree Legal Assistance is an excellent source for people who would like to file their own family matter cases. Two helpful areas of the Pine Tree Legal Assistances website that may be very helpful with regard to a parental rights action are: http://www.ptla.org/ptlasite/cliented/family/Divorce.htm; and http://www.ptla.org/ptlasite/forms/prr.htm

If you would like to discuss this in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact me.
