Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland

I need information on exemptions for Chapter 7 bankruptcy?

Hello, I am trying to find a full listing of all of the exemptions whether personal or real or whatever the State of Maryland allows for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. I am currently researching what the particulars are for a friend of mine who lives in the State of Maryland. If you could point me in the right direction I would be forever grateful. Thank you

The information you need is located in section 11-504 of the Maryland Code. You may access the code on line at www.state.md.us and click on "SAILOR." This link will lead you to a site that contains Maryland's statutes and regulatory rules.

Your friend should see a lawyer because claims of exemption can be complicated, but in general the exemptions available under MD law are found in the Md. Code Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article, 11-504.

You will find the official listing of exemptions from execution by judgment creditors in the Maryland Annotated Code, Section 11-504. SInce the state exempts these "assets" from collection, they are assumed into the bankruptcy petition as being also exempted from being available for distribution to creditors in a chapter 7. I'd be glad to fax your friend a copy of the text of that state law. Joe Trevino, 1-800-924-6217. or 301-441-3131
