How long does it take to lift a garnishment of my checking account after filling
My checking account has a hold on it because of unpaid debt. I filed bankruptcy 5/29/2004 but still have a hold on my account. I have made the first payment to my trustee, but I still don't have access to my account.

Your lawyer should file a motion to have the account released. It is not a violation of the automatic stay to leave a pre-petion garnishment hold in place pending an order from the Court.
