Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland

Escrow accounts

A lawyer is holding $15,000.00 due to me from a person who owes me this amount in order to pay-down a mortgage i am holding. This is per the schedule arranged in the contract. He , the lawyer ,says that he cannot contact the person who owes me the $15,000 and therefore cannot release this amount to me. How can i force this payment legally & also do i have the right to demand to see the escrow account of the lawyer showing the bank, day of depoit, amount, interest, etc. The person who gave him this money is readily available. Can i also complain to the bar assn & the lawyers grievance committee in Maryland.

Re: Escrow accounts

You can bring suit for the amount due in the District Court of Maryland against the person who owes you the $15000. The lawyer can then pay the money into the court registry and get himself out of the picture. If the court awards you a judgment, you will get your money plus any accrued interest.
